To Miss Sleep

To make the dull brighter

What is all one can do

To sink, to sink, to sink

In the loneliest of blues

To make the lull louder

What is all one can do

To sing, to sing, to sing

Of the merriment of a few

To make the sociable sounder

What is all one can do

To ting, to ting, to ting

The bells of many rues

To make distance dearer

What is all one can do

To wing, to wing, to wing

The air all tight and loose

I wrote this poem once

To miss sleep

Never quite realizing

What inner peace

Meant

Or never meant

Because I missed you

To miss sleep
