My hair is not long enough

They liked my shirt,

its floral patterns

crumpled sleeves

darned collar

 

I smiled

 

handed them a pamphlet

a long urge for peace

love

maybe

no war

 

They liked the font

I had used

asked me where I got it

why my sentences were short

 

I smiled

 

They heard my song

called it a ballad

for our generation

a memorial

to protest

 

I smiled

 

And, then I

inhaled

their smoke

drank their wine

 

and

 

Felt like staring at the

 

Mirror!
